Jewelry Care Quick Tip

Summer can be really hard on your jewelry. Sun lotion, chlorine pools, salt water, sweat....all of the above can change the finish on a piece of silver jewelry. The pictures below are an extreme example. On the left is my husband's ring after he put his hand in the swimming pool while adding chlorine. Yuck! The photo on the right was taken about two minutes later, the ring is nice and clean after using the baking soda paste.

P.S. You can avoid tarnish all together by storing your jewelry in an airtight container!

I got to go to the Gem and Mineral show here in Austin (officially called Gem Capers) yesterday. It is something I always look forward to because I love chatting with people (mostly senior citizens, mostly male) who get as excited as I do about sparkly formations like these:

I've been promising to do this for a long time- I finally stocked my Etsy shop! I reserved the name almost a year ago but never put anything in until this month. Now I'll be able to accommodate online sales for the of one-of-a kind pieces that I take to shows. Here is a selection of things that will be included in this week's update:

New Studio

There have been a lot of changes around here over the last few years. Now that I'm a mom I decided that I'd like to work at home but not IN my home, so we decided to build a studio in our backyard. This has been a dream of mine for a long time and I'm so happy with the outcome. We recently had a photo shoot of the finished exterior, here are a few of the pictures:

....and someone wanders into the shot.... This illustrates why I am 90% less productive than I was two years ago. Oh well, she's a whole lot of fun!

So this is where all of the jewelry is made. Still working to finish out the interior, I'll be sharing pictures of it soon.
